Boatshed team members travelled to Les Sables d'Olonne for the GGR prize giving and awarded the Boatshed 5000 GBP to Jean-Luc van den Heede for the fastest boat in the 2018 Golden Globe Race.

The £5000 GBP Boatshed prize matches the original award that all competitors raced for 50 years ago. The whole idea of the race is mirror the 1968 race with no reliance on technology, to "keep it authentic", so the £5000 GBP prize is a great example of this philosophy.

Thousands of people attended the open air presentation in Les Sables d’Olonne where Boatshed Founder Neil Chapman's mum presented a giant cheque to Jean-Luc van den Heede.

My mum (Barbara Chapman below) has been following the GGR race tracker for months so she was very keen to award the £5000 prize to the winner
